COMMUNITY COHESION PROJECT FUNDED BY ONE  TOWER HAMLETS

The One Tower Hamlets Fund will support activities that will empower residents of religion or belief or those of no faith to build positive relationships between different groups, address local cohesion issues and work together to improve their local area and develop their leadership skills.

Tower Hamlets Somali Organisations Network project will work men of different faith and bring them together through the medium of sports.

Programme schedule  to be confirmed in next two weeks and will begin in late July 2015

Project management and fundraising training  This project activities will be to provide training for local Somali community organisations in: –          Social entrepreneurship development as income generating method: Through this training participants will learn different methods and actions that they can be implemented within their organisations so that they can have financial income that will be used to created jobs within their organisations. –          Fundraising methods to access funding for staff and volunteers expenses: Through this training participants that will represent local Somali organisation will gain skills that will enable them to write funding bids and complete funding applications that will enable  to access funding which will be used to create jobs within their organisations. This training subject will include budgeting for salaries, developing job description and information about the leading funders that funds salaries and how to apply funding to them. Third Sector Excellence Award

Tower Hamlets Somali Organisations Network (THSON) was recognised for its hard work and dedication during the Third Sector Excellence Awards organized last week by the Tower Hamlets Council at The Troxy, a top London hotel in Limehouse. A special awards cerimony was set up to celebrate the valuable contributuions made by third sector organisations which had demonstrated significant achievements and impacts on the community of Tower Hamlets. Voluntary organisations in the borough have been invited to submit nominations in 12 distinct categories, and the winners were selected by an independent panel made up of officers from Tower Hamlets Council and London Councils. The outstanding services provided by THSON was officially renowned during the  cerimony with the “Delivering Housing and Homelessness Services” award. Tower Hamlets Third Sector member thanked our organisation  for provinding Tower Hamlets community with a number of services which are essential to local people. Thson was presented as a representative sample of the wide range of quality services that the third sector is delivering for local communities.
